• i
WATER RESOURCES
GROUNDWATER:
Groundwater conditions will not be significantly injured. During
periods of snowmelt and spring runoff, the water table i the
area surrounding the proposed mine site rises to within
approximately three feet of the surface. Although min in
operations may encounter groundwater during some times o the
year, no water is required for the mining, crushing, or orting
operations. The mining operations do not include any co sumptive
water uses.
SURFACE WATER:
Mi11 Creek and an unnamed intermittent stream flow appro imately
170 feet away from the permit site. Neither stream was lowing
during a field inspection in January of 1984. They are sually
contained in their channels and will not have sign ifican
interaction with the mine area.
During the spring runoff and flood season, all mining eq ipment
will be moved off of the site. Floodwaters n the mine ermit
area will be diverted away from the pit b berms compose of
crusher reject materials and overburden. These berms wi 1 also
protect the stockpiles of topsoil.
There will be no water channeled from the permit site di;
the streams. Sufficient space lies between the permit a:
the streams to prevent significant interaction. Water f:
the mined area will follow approximately the same genera:
northwest flow direction as the original ground, but wil:
ponded in the excavated pit and directed into the grounds
system.
FE6
WINED UND RE
Cola Dept of
ectly to
ea and
lling on
be
Ater
I VED
1198
NATION DIVISION
ur~l Qeso++rces
