Colorado • 80901 • c303) 475 -7005 <br />• <br />July 13, 1982 <br />Ms. Susan Mowry <br />Reclamation Specialist <br />Mined Land Reclamation Division <br />723 Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: July 12th Meeting on Additional <br />Vegetation Sampling <br />Dear Susan: <br />This letter is written to confirm the July 12th meeting <br />between Barry Rhea and Al Czarnowski of Colorado Coal Mining <br />Company (GCMG) and Fred Banta, Mike Savage, Brian Munson and <br />yourself of the Division. <br />• In this meeting, we requested the acceptance of the <br />conversion of the area presently classified as <br />pinyon pine-juniper vegetation type at CCMC to a grassland <br />type in the post-mine reclaimed condition. To support this <br />request, the following information was presented: <br />1. The pinyon pine-juniper area is essentially confined <br />to the LTE soil type <br />2. The LTE soil type is characterized by shallow, <br />rocky and discontinuous soils (0"-2" in depth) <br />3. Soil depths in this area will be approximately <br />4 feet after reclamation <br />4. Slopes will be somewhat more gentle and the <br />majority of the slopes have an east to northeast <br />aspect <br />5. The grassland seed mix was developed to take into <br />account the general droughtiness of the site <br />6. That a grassland would be more desirable in <br />relation to the post-mining land use of rangeland <br />• <br /> <br />
