4.4.6 Weed Management Plan
•
Edna Mine will implement a weed management plan as required by DMB
regulations. Edna Mine's weed management plan is designed to comply with DMG
regulations and is provided in Appendix 4.4-G. The plan outlines a strategy
for assessing, preventing and managing noxious weed infestations within the
permit area. Annual survey and assessment of weed infestation and treatment
will be performed (implementation is anticipated to commence in 2006 following
snow melt). A list of weeds to be managed will be developed after the site
survey has been completed and will specifically include any weedy plant
species required to be managed as indicated on noxious weed lists by the DMG,
Routt County, and the State of Colorado Department of Agriculture.
After the initial survey and assessment is complete, a management strategy
will be developed and control efforts implemented as identified by the survey.
Survey, assessment and control efforts will be documented to track the
effectiveness of weed management on the site. Annual monitoring and control
work will occur over the life of the DMG permit. All weed management work will
• be completed in accordance with applicable laws pertaining to eradication,
suppression and containment requirements, pesticide safety, documentation and
protection of natural resources, including but not limited to the Colorado
Noxious Weed Act (Title 35 Article 5) and the Rules pertaining to the Act (S
CCR 1203-19). Weed management activities implemented under this plan will not
restart the vegetation liability period. The weed management plan will be
adjusted on a regular basis as dictated by site-specific environmental
conditions, weed population characteristics and weed control treatment
effectiveness evaluation. Annual survey information and descriptions of any
weed control activities will be documented and described in the Edna Mine's
annual mining and reclamation report to the DMG.
• 5
Minor Revision 47 4.4-2~ March 2006
