• Fish Creek fair to gou~l in upprr reaches but poor in <br />the vicinity of the tract. <br />Increases in sedimentation which could result from <br />veining on the tract wuul.d have a severe effect on the <br />aquatic ecosystems in Trout Creek and Fish Cr~~e. <br />Ti~is increase in siltation from fugiCive dust, over- <br />flow.or washing out of detention dar,;s (this has a low <br />probability of happening except during high sno•~fall <br />years and thunderstorms), haul :road runoff, surface <br />disturbance, and alteration of historic draina~c <br />patterns would result in (1) ra~uction and alteration <br />of benehic communities, {2) silting in of riffle <br />areas which are critical to trout spawning and `_eedin <br />• (3) increase in water temperatures and accompa;ying <br />decrease in dissolved oxygen content, and (4) increase <br />in disease due to abrasive and clogging effects of <br />i <br />siltation on gill filaments and string mucus. <br />i These iapacts could have drastic effects on the <br />~ fisheries by reducing feed for }•oung-of-the-year <br />trout, disrupting the food chain by reduction and/or <br />elimination of primary producers (:hose organisms <br />which produce organic -:latter from inorganic :materials), <br />suffocating eggs and/or reduction of critical spa~.aiin„ <br />areas, and increasing siltation and turbidity, whic'.i <br />! mould impair sight feeding of the predator specie;. <br />• <br />14Q <br />...._ . <br />,. t,_ ........ <br />
