Freitag: <br />If you will agree to the following contingencies, I will recommend approval <br />of the above applications to the ?lined Land Reclamation Roard ".arch 31st. <br />Unless you respond to the contrary, it will be assumed that you are in <br />agreement. <br />1. Rule 6.4 states verq specifically that topsoil shall be <br />removed and stockpiled from other spoil prior to <br />extraction. <br />I would agree that it ie not practical to stockpile topsoil <br />from the ~*+ Creak pit, and the Soil Conservation Service <br />report suggests the soils at the Hall Culch, Sportsmana <br />and Elkhorn Spriggs Pit are aimi ar y eveloped. <br />Ilowever, I have inspected several of the other pits and do <br />not agree that Boil should not be salvaged from the future <br />wrkings. As an example, Graaite Construction Company, a <br />short distance to the N[i of the 11-?~(ile Pit, will ba stripp- <br />ing 3-6 inches of topsoil for Salvage. The topsoil does not <br />have to have the large cobbles separated from the fines to <br />be useful. The Soil Conservation Service reports ahov <br />adequate topsoil development for the other sites which ward <br />warrant stripping.
