z
facilities, equipment, machines, tools, and other materials or
property which results from such operations, must be included
in the affected area. Based on the maps submitted with this
application, the referenced stone yard is not included in the
affected area. Therefore no activities associated with the
processing, preparation, and loading out of material from this
site should be conducted anywhere except on the approved
affected area. If the stone yard is to be used in conjunction
with this mine, the application must be amended to include it
in with the rest of the affected area.
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D
Reclamation Plan
(c)(iv) The proposed mix is comprised of a number of excellent
native grasses with the exception of crested wheatgrass,
which is an aggressive, introduced, cool season bunch
grass. Crested wheatgrass can be a good reclamation
species in difficult situations, however, it does have
some undesirable traits that can be detrimental to a
reclaimed site such as its tendency to exclude and crowd
out other more desirable grasses, and its bunchy growth
habit which provides less erosion protection than other
sod forming grasses. There are other native or less
aggressive introduced wheatgrasses such as intermediate
wheatgrass (I), pubescent wheatgrass(I), thickspike
wheatgrass (N) or slender wheatgrass(N), which can provide
the same component to a grass mix that crested wheatgrass
does with less undesirable growth characteristics. Since
the percentage of crested wheatgrass in the mix is fairly
small, the Division is not requiring the operator to
change the mix at this time, but is merely suggesting
that substituting one of the other wheatgrasses will
improve the overall mix. Also, if the operator proposes
to change the approved seed mix after this application is
approved, this must be done via a technical revision
prior to conducting final seeding.
6.3.5 EXHIBIT E
Man
No comment.
