20
1
then be seeded with a mixture of grasses for stabilization during
' runoff (Table 4) .
' POST MINE LAND USE AND SEEDING PLAN
The premine land use of this site is wildlife habitat and
' domestic livestock grazing.
A specific seed mix has been developed to supply forage for
a postmined land use of wildlife habitat and domestic livestock
' grazing (Table 4) . This mix incorporates species beneficial to
wildlife (Mule Deer) , domestic livestock (cattle) , and will aid
in controlling erosion . It is anticipated that the revegetated
site will yield vegetation comparable to existing levels of bio-
mass production and will be suitable for the proposed postmine
land use of wildlife/domestic livestock. After the ground has
' been recontoured a firm friable seedbed will be created into which
the seed will be broadcast by means of a cyclone seeder or other
comparable means . A spike tooth harrow will then be used on the
seedbed to aid in seed coverage. All reseeding activities will
occur during the fall . Water bars will then be replaced on the .
' road area and on any area reseeded with slopes greater than 3:1 .
Water bars/dips will be so designed that they will drain into
existing native vegetation so as to reduce erosion (Table 1) .
' FERTILIZATION
Prior to seeding and after grading , samples of the plant
growth media will be analyzed for fertility by the Colorado State
University soil laboratory. Fertilization of the growth media
