'6
EXHIBIT B MINING PLAN
The proposed granite quarry operation will extract granite
-from a rock 'outcrop that occurs on approximately 3 acres of the
proposed 4 acre permit -area (see Map 2 , Exhibit Q . The operator
proposes to use an air track drill or jack hammer to drill holes
for setting charges of ammonia nitrate . Blasting will comply
with state and federal -safety codes and will split and pulverize
} the granite into rubble ranging in size from 5 to 16 inches . The
material will be loaded into a 10 -wheel dump using a CAT 930
wheel loader and hauled from the quarry. All vehicular activity
will be restricted to the quarry area and the existing road to
Canon City. No new roads will be constructed since all operations
will use existing roadways . The aggregate material will be
crushed and shipped to Texas for use in the manufacture of trazo.
Mining will begin on the existing bench at the end of the road
and will proceed in a southeasterly direction, consuming the rock
outcrop (Map 2 ,. Exhibit Q . It is anticipated that at the end
of the mine operation the entire 3-acre outcropping of rock will
be removed, leaving a flat rock surface with little or no damage
to the surrounding vegetation and soils. The mining effort will
proceed in such a manner as to create working surfaces that in-
corporate enough slope to prevent the accumulation of rain water
in the quarry or against the working face . All roads on BLM and
private property leading to the quarry site will incorporate water
dips meeting the BLM standards (Table 1) . Turnouts , ditches ,
