Twin Pines No. 2 Mine <br />Revised 8/12/94 <br />• Pae.e No. 98 <br />File wp51\1¢,w\tpcoal <br />2.06.10 COAL PROCESS PLANTS AND SUPPORT FACILITIES NOT LOCATED <br />WITHIN THE PERMIT AREA <br />Twin Pines Coal Sales is located at the site of the original Twin <br />Pines Mine in the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 1. T-20-S: R- <br />TO-W of the 6th. P.M. Twin Pines Mine was worked from 1955 until <br />October 1. 1981. Reclamation of the site outside of the tipple <br />area has been completed in accordance with the original permit <br />for Twin Pines Coal Co. The mine site is located on the south <br />bank of the ephemeral stream of South Oak Creek in a Pinon - <br />,Juniper woodland. PremininK land use of the site was wild life <br />habitat and ranee land. The initial plan set forth in the permit <br />application has allowed for reclaiming the site to the land use <br />existing prior to mining. <br />The hydrological aspects of South Oak Creek are discussed in <br />Section 2.04 of the application and in the J.F. Sado information <br />completed under a Small Operator Assistance Program contained in <br />the application. <br />SITE FACILITIES <br />• The original mine site and facilities are being used for <br />processing and retail sales of domestic coal from Twin Pines No. <br />2 Mine. Facilities utilized are an elevated tipple with crushing. <br />screening. coal storage. and loading conveyors: a 24 ft. x 40 ft. <br />shop building. a small office building (12 ft. x 14 ft.). a truck <br />scale. well and well house, and existing roads and vard area. The <br />~iriainal tipple access ramp has been provided with a turn around <br />area to facilitate delivery of raw coal to the tipple. A <br />retaining wall and raw coal storage pad was constructed at the <br />upper tipple area. Stairs were installed for safety and easy <br />access to the uppez tipple area. The coal bins of the tipple have <br />been provided with a roof. A retaining wall and road extension <br />was constructed on the north side of the scales to permit <br />continuous travel across the scales. A 12 ft. x 50 ft. mobile <br />office replaced original scale house. Ir, the vard area. three <br />concrete pads were placed to facilitate loading and storage of <br />processed coal. <br />To date an avex•age of 2.200 tons of coal per year have been <br />processed for domestic sales. A maximum of 3 semi truck loads of <br />coal per week are delivered to the site from the mine for <br />processing. Waste from the coal processing is hauled to the North <br />Spoil Area at the Twin Pines No. 2 mine site. <br />Ar_cess to the site to the site is provided by County Road 86 <br />• which ends at the Coal Sales Site. <br />
