Barium. The results of the C-Seam top and bottom material for
barium are 2.8 and 18.8 ppm. The average value for barium is
• determined to be 10.8. No problems are expected on groundwater
quality with respect to barium.
Cadmium. The values of cadmium are less that 1 ppm. The Montana
Guidelines list a suspect level of 1.0 ppm or more. No ground-
water quality problems are expected with respect to cadmium.
Chromium. The chromium values
material are extremely low. No
spect to chromium.
for the C-Seam top and bottom
problems are expected with re-
Copper. The values for copper found in the C-Seam top and bottom
material are 7.76 and 5.96 ppm. The copper values for the B-Seam
floor coal, the B-Seam roof and the temporary waste storage piles
#1 and #2 are <1, 1, 2 and 2 respectively. The Montana Guide-
lines establish 40 ppm as the suspect level for copper and the
samples analyzed fall well below this limit. No toxicity prob-
lems should be encountered with copper.
Iron. The values for iron in the top and bottom material in the
C-Seam were determined to be 15.0 and 31.2 ppm. The values for
iron in the B-Seam floor coal, the B-Seam roof and the temporary
waste storage piles #1 and #2 are 9, 30, 48 and 52 respectively.
With respect to possible solution leaching of iron into ground-
water, little is expected to be encountered. Likewise, an ex-
tremely acidic pH would be required to facilitate dissolution of
• iron. Therefore, no problems are expected to occur with respect
to iron.
Lead. The values for lead in the top and bottom material of the
C-Seam were determined to be 1.36 and 2.36 ppm. The values for
lead in the B-Seam floor coal, the B-Seam roof and the temporary
waste storage piles #1 and #2 are 1, 4, 3, and 3 respectively.
All of the values fall well below the suspect level of 20 ppm set
forth in Montana Guidelines. Therefore, no problems with respect
to lead are anticipated.
Manganese. The values for manganese taken in the top and bottom
material of the C Coal Seam are 4.0 and 0.2 ppm. The values for
manganese in the B-Seam floor coal, the B-Seam roof and the
temporary waste storage piles #1 and #2 are <1, 4, 5, and 5
respectively. These values fall well below the suspect level of
Montana Guidelines set at 60 ppm. Therefore, no problems with
respect to manganese are expected
• 2.04-26
Revised June 29, 1990
