A complete <br />summary of the vegetation information is presented in Table 14, <br />Meadow Hay Vegetation Type. <br />Historical Flood Irrigation <br />Flood irrigation in the proposed permit and adjacent area has <br />occurred in the floodplaine of lover Foidel Creek, Middle Creek, and <br />Fish Creek. The most common method of irrigation in the region is <br />stream diversion through gravity-fed ditches. <br />The capability of the intermittent and perennial streams in the <br />• proposed permit and adjacent area to be flood irrigated is proven by <br />the eziatence and historical use of flood irrigation systems in the <br />intermittent and perennial stream floodplaine. Specifically, the <br />Comel and Homestead Ditch systems, which derive their water from <br />Trout, Middle and Foidel Creeks, irrigate the Foidel and Middle <br />Creek floodplaine. The Boettler ditch derives water from Fish Creek <br />upstream from the proposed permit area and has been used to irrigate <br />the Fish Creek floodplain. <br />Sub-irrigation <br />Sub-irrigation is the process of supplying water to the root <br />zone from below through saturation in permeable soils, or capillary <br />action in tight sails. The relative positions of the water table, <br />• capillary fringe and root zone indicates the presence or absence of <br />sub-irrigation at a specific location.
