EXHIBIT "C"
PRE-MINING AND MINING PLAN MAP OF AFFECTED AREA
SPRING CREEK PASS
The total area of the proposed 112 pit is 35.00 acres. Excavation will continue from the
existing 111 permit site to the southwest. The southerly pit limits will be an existing fence. The
existing 111 site covers less than 10 acres and is mined out. It is anticipated that the maximum
disturbed area will be no larger than 13 acres during the estimated 30 year life. Amore detailed
description of the final configuration of the pit and contour map of the existing site can be found
in EXHIBIT "E & F".
There are no man-made structures or other land owners within 200 feet of the pit
boundary.
North Clear Creek is about a half mile to the northeast of the pit limits. There is an active
tributary to North Clear Creek passing through the northeasterly pit limits. Two 24" culverts are
in place where the access road crosses the tributary. The existing pit is dry and no discharge is
associated with this site or operation. CDOT has a Stormwater Discharge Permit from the
Colorado Department of Health, COR-320024. A copy of the Stormwater Management Plan can
be found in EXHIBIT "G".
Soils and vegetation information from the U. S. Department of Agriculture is attached to
this Exhibit "I & T'.
EXHIBIT "D"
MINING PLAN
SPRING CREEK PASS
It is anticipated that the material within the 35 acre pit limit will last 30 years. The
maximum disturbed site should not exceed about 13 acres. The site will be used intermittently for
production of crushed aggregates and hot mixed bituminous paving mix. A portion of the pit will
be used for stockpiling topsoil and crushed aggregates on a full time basis.
Removal of aggregates will be by traditional methods using dozers, loaders and trucks.
Topsoil will be removed and stockpiled prior to excavating a new area. Occasionally crushers and
hot plants will be used to process aggregates. The depth of useable aggregates in the existing pit
are about 15 feet. It is not anticipated to excavate deeper than 20 feet. Temporary cut slopes will
not be left vertical to insure slope stability and for safety of the public and livestock.
Material underlying the gravel layer is sand not suitable for road gravel and paving
aggregates.
