The following items have been discussed with and
approved by Western Gravel, Inc.
1. Gravel Cover on Pit Floor A gravel cover ranging from about 6 to
8 inches will remain on the pit floor.
2. Side Slope Grading The side slopes will be graded to 4:1.
3. Slope Imprinting -- Orientation of Dozer Tracks In order to help
create moisture traps, a dozer will traverse the slope in a up-and-down
manner so that the long axis of the track imprints are made parallel to the
slope contour.
_ _- _- 4, Revege_tation Plan The proposed seed mixture for seeding disturbed
areas consists of a diverse mixture of grasses, shrubs and half-shrubs.
The shrubs and half-shrubs will compose 25 percent of the mixture. The
species were selected on the basis of current vegetation present on the
site, review of data for range seeding trials; review of vegetation present
on similar undisturbed sites; discussions with SCS and NPS personnel
(Leonard Jurgens, State Conservationist, SCS; Wendell Hassell, Plant
Materials Specialist, Nat. Park Service (formerly with the state office of
the SCS)). The current availability of various plant materials was then
considered.
The proposed mixture appears below. Seeding rates are based on a
critical area planting density of 40 pure live seeds (PLS) per square foot
(drilled rate).
L~1y~0 South-Park.Drive, Monument, Colorado 80732.
