I• July 31, 1984
Page 2
1. Suitable embankment and core trench materials
include material that is free of debris, roots,
organic matter, frozen material and stones with any
dimension greater than one half of the loose layer
thickness (12 inches). This fill material must
have a fine grain texture where 30 percent passes
the No. 200 sieve size.
2. Materials for the embankment shall be spread by
approved means in horizontal layers not more than
twelve (12) inches thick. Portions of the fill not
accessible to vibratory roller or loaded scrapers
shall be placed in four (4) inch layers. Lifts in
the embankment shall be compacted to 90 percent of
Modified Proctor Density [see laboratory results
(Attachment 1) and daily reports). The central
portion of the embankment shall be crowned with
grades not to exceed 2 percent.
3. The embankment for sediment pond No. 1 stands eight
• (8) feet above the top of its core trench. The
width at this top elevation is twelve (12) feet
grading to a basal width of approximately 60 feet
on 3:1 slopes.
The embankment for sediment pond No. 2 stands nine
(9) feet above the top of its core trench. The
width at this top elevation is twelve (12) feet
grading to a basal width of approximately 67 feet
on 3:1 slopes. The complete dam specification will
be submitted when Fox Consultants, Inc. receives
survey notes.
4. Field density and moisture shall be controlled in
the field with an approved nuclear device by a
certified operator. One test shall be made for
each 2000 square yards or less and a minimum of one
test for each compacted layer. Material that does
not satisfy the density requirements shall be
removed, reworked and retested.
5. A 36 inch I.D., 16 gauge galvanized riser CMP shall
be installed. four (4) rows of 2-inch wide by
6-inch long slots shall be constructed on one foot
center to center spacing beginning down from the
top of the riser pipe. In addition, a rebar screen
. consisting of No. 4 bars on 2 inch center to center
spacing shall be constructed inside the top of the
- 270 - (Rev. 5/86)
