.
Mr. James A. Willey -2- Novem er 30, 1984
2. I have some comments as concerns the seeding mixture sugges ed by the
SCS for the areas near the lake not to be planted with Reed canary grass.
First of all, the rate they suggest would be 34 lbs. PLS/acre for all
wheatgrass. The rate of 68 lbs. is for the entire area (of about acres) to
be seeded. For long-term site stability, it might be better to di ide the
mixture between the two suggested species (both of which are appro riate for
this site). This would give a broadcast seeding mixture consistin of l1 lbs.
PLS/acre of tall wheatgrass and 14 lbs. PLS/acre of pubescent whea grass. A
two-species mixture such as this is also more likely to cover more rapidly and
allow your financial warranty to be released sooner. Please let m know your
final plans concerning this mixture.
I have no further questions in this matter. Please feel free to c~ll me if
you require clarification of any parts of my letter.
Sincerely,
G %~ ~
Mark S.
