Westside Gravel
Adequncy Review
Exhibit H -Wildlife Information
Pp #1: Westside Gravel commits to limiting operations to the greatest extent possible as
recommended by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. We intend to honor the recommendations for
revegetation specified by the NRCS, while this may not address the identical measures
recommended by the Division of Wildlife, we hope that the measures are acceptable to them.
Exhibit I -Soils Information
Pp #1: The three soil Types in this area according to the NRCS soil survey are:
70 - Ustic Torriorthents-Ustolloic Haplargids complex on the 12 to 60 percent slopes. This is
primarily the material that the gravels will be extracted from.
74 - Vasburg fine sandy loam on 3 to 8 percent slopes in the bottom of the drainage way. This area
will not be disturbed during mining activities.
76 -Witt loam, 3 to 8 percent slopes on the mesa tops. This soil has depths of 60 inches or more.
The surfnce and subsurface soils in this area will provide the majority of the replacement
overburden and topsoil for the mined areas.
Specifics of each of the soil types is outlined in attachment #4, provided by the local USDA
center.
Exhibit L -Reclamation Costs
Pp #1: See responses below
Pp #2: The 100 acre figure is for the entire permitted area, the disturbed area that will require
reclamation is $7..~ acres. This is clarified on the revised reclamation map, Exhibit F.
Pp #3: The $450.00/ acre figure that is included in the reclamation costs include mobilizing and
demobilizing from Durango.
Pp #4: The costs for placement and grading of the reject material have been incorporated in the
costs of mining and processing. Westside 6ravelintends on working toward reclamation during all
stages of mining.
Pp #5: See response to Exhibit D Pp #4 and Pp #5 for this information.
Pp #6: The anticipated equipment needs that you have specified are consistent with what we have
anticipated.
Pp #7: See response to Exhibit D Pp #3 for slope grading issues and Exhibit E Pp #4 for seed mix
requirements. In discussions with Tom 6illas prior to submittal of this application, it is our
understanding that the bonding amount will be for the anticipated area of disturbance during any
one phase (10 to 15 acres). Please notify us immediately if our understanding of this issue differs
from your understanding.
