Westside Gravel
Adequacy Review
areas will produce enough to uniformly cover all disturbed areas including the current canyon slopes
upon final reclamation. The absolute minimum that we would replace would be the previously stated
4" with the anticipation of a greater depth. Overburden will be replaced uniformly throughout the
mining phases at a depth of not less than 12".
Pp #6: While iT is anticipated that the majority of the processed aggregntes will be hauled off site
for use as concrete and or asphalt aggregntes, Westside Gravel would like to reserve the right to
utilize a portable plant at this site. A concrete or asphalt plant would be utilized on a temporary or
project specific basis with no intention of permanent installation. This scenario was approved by La
Plata County Planning and Zoning and has been discussed with San Juan Basin Health. If a plant of
either type is set up on site it would be located in the vicinity of the scale house and would be fully
permitted by the appropriate agencies as required.
Pp #7: Stormwater controls on site will consist primarily of berms along the outer margins of the
pit benches to prevent pit floor runoff from discharging to the gulch. Erosion control boles will be
installed (enclosure #2) at the access road crossing in the gulch area. Final reclamation will
incorporate roughened slopes on the 3:1 slopes to encourage revegetation,
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
Pp #1: See Exhibit D, Pp #5 above for response.
Pp #2: When mining activities commence in Phase III, it is anticipated that Phase 1 will be fully
reclaimed (with the exception of the access road through the area) and that Phase 2 slopes and pit
floor will be partially reclaimed. The same is true for later phases, ie: At The commencement of
Phase 4, Phases 1 ~ 2 will be fully reclaimed and that Phase 3 will be partially reclaimed.
Pp #3: The 10-15 active acres is intended to mean the amount of unreclaimed disturbance.
Reclamation activities will follow as closely as possible to the new areas being affected.
Pp #4: Westside Gravel intends to subcontract the reseeding of the disturbed areas to a local
landscaping contractor. Seedbed prep, seeding, fertilization and mulching applirntions will be in
compliance with industry standards. NRCS has recommended the attached seed mix (attachment
#3) and mulching rotes. Fertilizer has not been recommended. Westside Gravel will verify with
the local office prior to reseeding any given area that these recommendations are valid for the
season, and cwr~t climate conditions.
Exhibit F -Reclamation MaD
Pp #1: A revised reclamation map is included in this submittal.
Pp #2: The map was prepared, signed and dated by Craig Surveying and Mapping.
Pp #3: The correct scale is identified.
Pp #4: Undisturbed areas have been identified.
