• Utah Tract
CEC is responsible for reclaiming the area known as the Utah Tract depicted on Map 20, Vegetation Map. This area
was originally mined and reclaimed by Trapper Mining, Inc. Trapper has designated two different range sites within
the Utah Tract. However, within the immediate area adjacent to the Utah Tract, three range sites, as defined by
Trapper Mining, aze identified; the distinction between the range sites is based upon elevation. Range site A is an
areas located above 7,200 feet range site B is located between 7,200 feet and 6,700 feet, and range site C is located
below 6,700. The following tables identify species associated with these three range sites.
The Utah Tract is traversed by range site A and B. The success criteria established for the Utah Tract will focus on
comparisons made between the individual reclaimed range site and its associated reference area. The reference are
for the A range site is located within the south central portion of the N/2 SW/4. Section 2, TSN, R91 W (reference site
5) and the extreme northwest portion of the SEJ4 SW/4, Section 30, T6N, R9l W (reference site 6). Reference sites 5
and 6 are located on Map No. M17, Vegetation Available for Domestic Grazing Under Utah Surface Control, of the
approved Trapper Permit, No. C-010-81. The reference site for range site B is shown on CEC's Map No. 20,
Vegetation.
The following methodology will be used to evaluate the reclaimed site to its appropriate reference area.
Revegetation of the reclaimed sites will be deemed successful when measurements of reclaimed total cover and
herbaceous production are at least 90 percent of the cover and production values for the reference area with 90 percent
statistical confidence. [f total cover and herbaceous production on the revegetated area are determined to be less than
the reference areas, a on-tailed "t" teat will be performed to determine if there is a statistically significant difference.
Based on this test, revegetation will be deemed successful when the calculated "t" is less than or equal to the "t" value
from the one-tailed "t" distribution table. The following equation, which is from page 22 of the DMG Vegetation
Guidelines, will be used to evaluate vegetation success.
4 = SLx
SR
Where: Q = 90% of the standazd
x = Bond release block sample mean
sx = Standard error of the mean (s/ /n)
s = Sample Standard deviation
n = Sample size
4 = Calculated t value
The diversity standazd for this site will be successfully met when four species make up 60% of the relative permit
composition in the reclaimed site and no single species will contribute more than 40% of the relative composition.
The shrub standard for the Utah Tract will be established at 1,000 stems per acre. The same statistical requirement
presented for herbaceous cover and production will apply also to the shrub standard.
Field sampling will meet a statistical minimum of 90% confidence with 10% precision. Adequacy of sample size will
be determined using the following formula. (DMG Vegetation Guideline, page 20).
Nm = ((Q _ t~1
(del
Permi[ Renewal No. 3 2.05-35 7/15/98
