. 5+~
Exihibit D and G 5
Mining Plan
a. We plan to start mining approximately March 15, 1998 for the current 111 permit. Then we will
start mining as the 112 permit indicates for a duration as indicated in the 112 application
for approximately 15 years in a phased mining operation.
b. The operation will be an open pit phased mining operation utilizing dozers and loaders as
equipment. Processed materials will be hauled off the site using trucks. The average size of area
to be worked will not exceed the areas indicated by each phase.
c. The time period for each phase will vary, for the resources being mined. Prior to finishing
phase, work will already be initiated in regards to the reclamation plan in backfilling, final
grading, seeding and final stabilization.
d. A minimum of the top 6 inches of topsoil will be removed and stockpiled for each phased area.
~~ The topsoil will be reapplied to this mined area after mining ceases. Stabilization of the topsoil
~ stockpile with vegetative cover will be enacted if this material is not utilized within one growing
\~ v~ season.
5
e. We do not anticipate any overburden other than topsoil but in the event that we do, it will be
utilized to flatten out slopes of mined out areas. Topsoil will then be applied on top of these
areas.
f. The area to be mined will be 0 to 30 feet deep.
g. There will be processing on site such as screening, crushing and washing. The hot plant and
concrete plant will be contained by a berm encompassing the plant sites. We will also
put HDPE lined sediment ponds at the low spot inside the bermed area.
h. A new road will be constructed for access to highway 50. Please see maps in exhibit C. The road
will only require blading and water for dust control.
i. Minimal water will be needed for dust control. It is our intent to obtain water from Carl Pantaleo
for dust abatement, and if needed, for wash water. We understand there are other agencies that
regulate the use of this water. We. will continue to pursue that. Until the time we have received ~
from those
sb water wil
not a used until we have approval. The source of irrigation water for reve~on will be from ~
Pantaleo irrigation water and we realize further approval and additional permits will be ~
required from the state engineer. The amount of water estimated for dust control is
approximately 2000 gallons per day. The estimated amount of water for a wash plant , if needed,
is approximately 12,000 gallons per day.
`+
Ground water disturbance is not anticipated. The State Engineer has requested that we stay 18"
above ground water we have agreed to do this. If for unknown reasons we cant be 18" above the
water table proper State Engineer approval will be provided. The only surface water on site now
is impounded in the stock dam. See detar3s in 111 permit as to relocation of stockpond. Any
storm water will be handled by constructing silt fences and berms in the low spots before any
water could exit the mine area.
j. We do not anticipate any acid or toxic producing material will be exposed during mining.
