Reclamation Plan
Pantaleo Pit Page 4
8) Supplemental water, if available, should be provided during the
first two growing seasons to insure seeding success. Water should
be applied at one week intervals at a rate of 3/4 to 1 inch per
application. The irrigations should begin no later than May 1 and
continue until late July. Additional irrigations after July can be
at the discretion of the party responsible for reclamation. During
the second growing season, enough supplemental water should be
applied so that when combined with natural precipitation, 2 inches
of moisture is received per month during May, June and July.
After July of the second year, supplemental irrigations can be
eliminated.
9) All tillage, seeding and crimping operations should be
performed across the slope when practical.
The area should be protected from grazing and trampling until the
seeding is well established. Normally at least two years of
protection is needed. During seedling establishment, weeds may be
controlled by mowing or by using an approved herbicide. Refer to
the current Colorado Pesticide Guide, Field Crops for herbicide
recommendations to control weeds in the grass seeding.
In addition to the above recommendations, the following
information and guidelines are available from the Natural
Resources Conservation Office: ~•
- Colorado SCS Spec
- Colorado SCS Spec.
- Colorado SCS Spec.
- Colorado SCS Spec.
- Agronomy Technical
(~-.//
Rich Rho
Resource
Conservationist
No. 5u; - Land Reconstruction,
Currently Mined Land"
Yo. 48a - "Mulching"
No. 3~2 - "Critical Area Planting"
No. 5i2 - "Spoilbank Spreading"
Note ASS - "Seeding Rates"
