Geology <br />This is in response to your adequacy letter questions. I will address them in the same order you <br />presented them: <br />Exhibit D -Mining Plan <br />I . The operator does not agree with your plan for screening the topsoil. Past experience with this <br />type material has proven this unnecessary. In fact, the cobbles act somewhat as a mulch collecting <br />moisture behind each one, thereby aiding germination as well as preventing runoff. <br />.~ J~-~,w~e operator does agree with your suggestion of amending with 20 T/A of manure. This can be <br />.a+'"I- .accomplished easily, as the owner has a lazge feedlot nearby. <br />~, ~n similaz operations, it has been possible to drill the seed and achieve reclamation. However, if for <br />r some reason that should be impossible, the seeding rate will be doubled and the seed broadcast. <br />The following is a list of the permits I have prepared since 1978 from Florence to Hasty, with similaz <br />conditions to the subject -upland dry pits, Cascajo soils, and not affecting residential uses in the <br />azea. Some of these have been reclaimed successfully over the years, some are in the reclamation <br />process, and others are active mines. NONE of these had topsoil screening required: <br /> <br />
