<br /> <br />Vollmer Road and Templeton Gap Road are moderately <br />busy two-lane paved rural roads. The land surrounding the <br />site is essentially fenced range land with occasional homes, <br />except to the immediate southeast where two ready mix plants <br />are located. Some forested land exists to the north and <br />west, two to three miles distance. <br />A variety of wildlife species typical of upper foothills <br />range sites (approximate elevation 7040 feet) could be <br />a <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />expected to be present on the site. Other species could <br />be present due to migratory or nomadic movements. <br />Avian species which could be expected probably would <br />include kestrels, and other larger grassland raptors, <br />horned larks (.observed on site), kildeer, roadrunner, <br />bobolink, western meadowlark, magpie or other corvids, <br />swallows or other caprimulgiformes, red winged blackbird <br />and other icterids, lark bunting, and grassland sparrows. <br />Mammalian species which could be expected include <br />antelope, coyotes (tracks observed on site), skunks, or <br />other smaller mammals, cotton-tail rabbits (pellets ob- <br />served on site), and some grassland rodents or insecti- <br />vores (pocket gopher tunnels were observed on site). <br />Other species may occur on an incidental basis. <br />Reptiles were not evaluated. <br />H-2 <br />
