Vollmer Road and Templeton Gap Road are moderately
busy two-lane paved rural roads. The land surrounding the
site is essentially fenced range land with occasional homes,
except to the immediate southeast where two ready mix plants
are located. Some forested land exists to the north and
west, two to three miles distance.
A variety of wildlife species typical of upper foothills
range sites (approximate elevation 7040 feet) could be
a

expected to be present on the site. Other species could
be present due to migratory or nomadic movements.
Avian species which could be expected probably would
include kestrels, and other larger grassland raptors,
horned larks (.observed on site), kildeer, roadrunner,
bobolink, western meadowlark, magpie or other corvids,
swallows or other caprimulgiformes, red winged blackbird
and other icterids, lark bunting, and grassland sparrows.
Mammalian species which could be expected include
antelope, coyotes (tracks observed on site), skunks, or
other smaller mammals, cotton-tail rabbits (pellets ob-
served on site), and some grassland rodents or insecti-
vores (pocket gopher tunnels were observed on site).
Other species may occur on an incidental basis.
Reptiles were not evaluated.
H-2
