• RECLAMATION PLAN
Reclamation of the Stagecoach Stop Pit will begin as soon
as possible and prior to completion of all mining. Contouring of
the pit slopes will begin first, and then topsoil will be redistributed
approximately 12" thick on these final contours. The steepest slopes,
from 5' above the normal high water elevation to 10 ' below high water,
will be 3:1. Slopes will range from 2: 1 to 4:1 with the average slope
being 3: 1. his w'll ral shoreline rather t
the straight and box-like appearance of many man-made grave ponds.
After the final configuration of the lake has been determined
and the ground water elevations is established, tree and shrub species
will be selected and planted. A concentration of six trees for each
acre of disturbed land will be the minimum planted. However, these
trees will be planted only along the higher elevations of the disturbed
land, and none will be planted in the floodway area . In the floodway
area only shrubs will be planted. Ten shrubs for each acre of disturbed
land in the floodway area will be the minimum planted. The area will
then be grass seeded with a mixture of Fairway Wheatgrass and Yellow
Sweetclover. (See Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service
recommendations . ) The disturbed areas will be maintained for three
years, or until the grass stand is well established.
•
•
