378-14 Pond <br />• ' <br />• <br />shorn on the drawings or as staked in practical. <br />the field. <br />Ezcavated material. The material <br />excavated from the pond shall be <br />placed so that its weight will not <br />endanger the stability of the pond <br />side slopes and where it will not be <br />washed back into the pond by rain- <br />fall. It shall be disposed of in one <br />of the following ways: <br />Fencing and cover to control erosion <br />and pollution shall be established as <br />needed. Fish ponds shall be fenced <br />when livestock are present and the <br />primary purpose of pond Ss far fish. <br />Appropriate safety measures, such as <br />warning signs, rescue facilities, and <br />fencing, shall be provided. <br />1. Uniformly spread to a height not <br />exceeding 3 feet with the top graded <br />to a continuous slope away from the <br />pond. <br />2. Uniformly placed or shaped rea- <br />sonably well with side slopes assum- <br />ing a natural angle of repose for [he <br />excavated material, but not steeper <br />than 3:1, behind a berm width equal <br />to the depth of the pond but not less <br />than 12 feet. <br />3: Shaped to a designed form iha[ <br />blends visually with the landscape. <br />4. Used for low embankment and <br />leveling, or <br />5. Hauled away. <br />Regardless of the disposal method <br />used, no slopes shall be left steeper <br />than 3:1 and the waste area smoothed <br />and finally dressed so that it is <br />yell drained. <br />Embankment and excavated ponds <br />Construction operations shall be <br />carried out in such manner and <br />sequence that erosion and air and <br />water pollution are minimized and <br />held vi thin legal limits. ~ All work <br />shall be conducted in a skillful and <br />workmanlike manner. <br />The completed job shall present a <br />workmanlike appearance. <br />~ Neasures and construction', methods <br />[ha[ enhance fish and wildlife values <br />shall be Incorporated as needed and <br />ICS, Colorado, April 1980 11 <br />i <br />
