`i
~~tyyo
[7•
~ INTRODUCTION
EXHIBIT E •
RECLADIIATION PLAN

Ideal Basic Industries' management philosophy includes an

awareness of environmental responsibility. Shaping and revegetation
of affected lands to a practical use will be accomplished.
A reclamation plan to blend with the existing quarry and
overburden deposites and corresponding n4ining Plan, which has /
not been fully developed, needs much more study and consultation /\>
with other agencies.
Other conditions and factors peculiar to this quarry which
should be considered in development of the reclamation plan are
as follows:
(i) The long-term nature of past and future quarry operation on
this site with the probability that it will be at least 4
years before any affected areas will be depleted and isolated
to enable reclamation to proceed.
(ii) Natural revegetation is a factor to consider and is evident
on portions of older overburden areas. It is evident that
overburden deposits require some time to settle, air slack
and condition before making a goad seed bed. It is often
necessary to regrade overburden deposits after a period of
settling.
(iii) Limestone as a raw material for cement is of relatively
low value and sensitive to interstate competition through
the marketing of cement. By comparison, coal is up to 15
• times more valuable than limestone mined and crushed to a
similar degree.
..
