Sediment control
facilities will be installed near to and downstream from disturbed
sites in the active mining area as necessary. Temporary diversion
ditches upslope from some mining activities will divert runoff away
from disturbed areas. Runoff from heavily disturbed areas may be
passed through straw dikes, gravel dams, and other sediment traps,
if necessary, to trap excess sediment before the runoff enters
sedimentation ponds. Further discussion of sediment control meas-
ures is presented in Section 780.21.
SIB Section 816.46 Hydrologic balance: Sedimentation ponds.
(a) General requirements.
