Section 816.43(a) Continued.
The drainage and sediment control plan described under Section 780.21
and Exhibit 42, Drainage and Sediment Control Plan, provides for
temporary diversion of ephemeral drainages and several locations
within the proposed permit area. Several temporary ditches in the
proposed permit area will be used to divert runoff from disturbed
areas into sedimentation ponds. Several other temporary ditches will
be used to divert runoff away from disturbed areas and out of the
proposed permit area. Two temporary ditches will be constructed
around the overburden stockpile to carry runoff away from the pile
into sedimentation Ponds A and B. These ditches and other sediment
control facilities are shown on Map 16a, Kerr Mine Area Surface Water
Hydrology. All temporary diversion structures will be constructed to
pass the runoff from the precipitation event with at least a 2-year
recurrence interval. Specifications for these temporary diversion
• structures are presented in Exhibit 42, Drainage and Sediment Control
Plan.
Temporary diversion ditches constructed at the Kerr Tipple Area are
designed and constructed to drain the area of operations into the on-
site sedimentation pond. Specifications for these ditches are shown
in Table 60, Temporary Diversion Structure Specifications. A berm
has been built and will be maintained around the tipple site to
prevent storm runoff from entering the site, and to assure that
runoff from the site passes through the sedimentation pond before
leaving the permit area. Location of the berm and temporary
diversion ditches are shown on Map 17a, Kerr Tipple Area Hydrology.
816-38 aaR
Revised -January, 1991
