Section 816.22 (f) Continued.
required under Section 816.46. diversion ditches and sedimentation
ponds will be constructed prior to any disturbance of the mining
areas.
Rerr'Tipple"Area
The tipple area from which topsoil will be removed constitutes an
area of 0.57 acres, and will be involved in retopsoiling the conti-
guous 6.77 acres. Due to the acreage involved, all soil stripping
and reapplication will be contemporaneous in one operation.
Marr"Mine"Area
All topsoil to be removed from the Marr Mine Area has been removed
prior to submittal of this permit.
• (2) The surface soil layer shall be redlstributed at a time when the
physical and chemical properties of topsoil can be protected and erosion
can be minimized; and
Rerr"N6rth"Area
Redistribution of the soil will be done, whenever possible, at a
time when the physical and chemical properties of the soil can be
protected from alteration while minimizing the potential for era-
sion. When practicable; redistribution will take place during the
early summer and fall when the soil moisture levels help reduce the
emission of particulate dust. Also, handling soil when it is
somewhat moist results in the formation of a seal as the moisture
in the uppermost layer evaporates, further reducing the potential
for air pollution. Regrading soils under wet soil conditions will
be avoided whenever possible to prevent severe compactlon, espe-
cially in Pit ~/1 and Pit IF2 where clay contents are high. Frost
action and wetting and drying will loosen these reapplied surface
816-18
