See Exhibit "C-1". The mesa top is triangular in
shape and is almost flat, dipping approximately 150 feet per
mile (3~) to the northeast, the apex of the triangle. See
Exhibit "C-2". To the northeast beyond the edge of the mesa
top, the ground falls off rapidly at a grade of approximately
40~. On either side of the mesa, that is, to the northwest
and to the southeast, the slopes below the mesa top are
considerably more gentle, ranging between 15% and 20~. See
Exhibit "C-3".
The gravel cap is uniformly about twelve feet thick
and will be completely removed during the mining operation
except toward the southwest portion of the permit area where
gravel removal will be feathered on a ten to one slope (i.e.,
over approximately 120 feet) to achieve reasonable conformity
between the mined and unmined portions.
The total permit area comprises 9.42 acres including
600 feet of a 25-foot access road which will be constructed
approximately along contour from an existing County road.
Immediately prior to mining, vegetation will be
removed from the permit area, stockpiled, allowed to dry and
burned. Ashes will be disposed of by burial at the bottom of
the mine pit. Topsoil will be separately removed and stored
EXIIIBIT "B" - D1INING PLAN
Ron Ebberts - Disappointment Valley
San Miguel County
February 25, 1980
