~ L2.5 Augmented Seedlrrg and/or Cultural Practlccs
In addition to 1991 replaced topsoil revegetation practices, Trapper also conducts several aug-
mented seeding and/or cultural practices. These practices are addressed below.
Mature Shrub TransQlant ClumRs
Trapper constructed no mature shrub clumps in 1991. However, Trapper has had enormous sur-
vival success with Ote 13 clumps established to date (20.8 acres). Trapper proposes to construct
two additional clumps in 1992
Seedling Shrub Clump
Trapper discontinued the seedling shrub clump study initially established in 1990. Trapper is cur-
rently anatyang the economics of this integrated practice on our range ecosystem to determine if
this practice should be continued.
Drainages Reconstruction
The acreages, location and methods are fully described in Section 3.0 of this annual report
Diversion Ditch Reclamation
During 1991, Trapper removed approxiroatety 0.25 acres of diversion ditches. Ditches were
removed [rom our runoff control system since vegetation suooess and the remainirtg diversion
system is adequatety handling runoff events. After ditches are closed, they are seeded to the
• appropriate range site mnc based on elevation. The areas reclaimed are documented on our
annual fall aerial photos.
Livestock Tanks
Trapper built thirteen livestock tanks in 1991. See Section 6 and Maps 6.1. Stock tanks were
seeded ruing the approved dam andlor spillway seed mixes on approximatety 7.8 acres.
Developmental Drill Sites
During 1991, Trapper broadcast seeded approximatety 26 acres of developmental drill sites using
the approved seed mut The specifics and loptioas are presented in L. Johtts's 1991 Develop-
mental Drilling summary submitted for your approval on January 20, 1992
Topsoil Piles
See Section 5 and maps 5.1. Topsoil stockpiles were smoothed and seeded to tite approved 1991
perennial topsoil pile mix Approttirtratety 23 acres were treated.
Sediment Dams
{n 1991, Trapper cleaned East Bunard sediment dam #1, reconstructed Johnson dam #9
drainage, conswcted West Pyeatt sediment dam #2, and inter-seeded sediment dams in both Ute
and Elk Gulch as previous seeding response was fatr-poor. All dams were broadcast seeded with
the approved dam seed mix.
_•
