for a period of less than six months will utilize temporary culverts, where required, designed to safely <br />pass the 1-year, 6-hour precipitation event. Light-use roads planned to be used for a period of more <br />• than six months will utilize culverts designed [o safely pass the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event <br />Isee Table 13-5, Culvert Statistical. Attachment 13-9 provides calculations for generic culvert sizes for <br />proposed light use roads. Attachment 13-7 contains calculations for existing light use road culverts. <br />Ditches and drainage control will be established during construction and maintenance of the roads to <br />minimize erosion and to assist traffic passage. <br />Design and Construction Light-use roads will be field engineered to follow the existing topography as <br />much .as practicable. Topsoil will be removed and stockpiled in accordance with the topsoil salvage <br />plan. The horizontal and vertical alignment will be dictated by the topography and the need to avoid <br />obstructions. Light-use road surfacing material will be adequate for the use of the road. Acid or toxic- <br />forming substances will not be used in the road surfacing. light-use roads will be maintained to <br />minimize erosion and to allow passage of traffic. <br />. Reclamation. SCC will reclaim alight-use road. when it is no longer needed in accordance with the <br />reclamation plan. The road will be closed to vehicu{ar traffic, The natural drainage patterns will be <br />restored. All culverts will be removed. Roadbeds will be ripped, plowed or scarified. Cut and fill <br />slopes will .be rounded or reshaped anti blended into the surrounding topography. Gross drains, dikes or <br />wa[ei bars maybe constructed~to control erosioh as required. Road surfaces from which topsoil has <br />been removed will ba covered with topsoil artd revegetated in accordance with the reclamation Dlan. <br />• ~~ .. <br />.~ Support Facilities <br />Buildings Proposed ~huildings consist of a bathhouse trailer 11~4'w. x 38'I x B'h1, and a shop building <br />140'w x 100'Ix 20'hl. <br />These buildings were placed do the minesite in 1990. Exhibit 12-2 shows the existing mine facility <br />area_ <br />Waste Water Waste water and sewage will be disposed of by septic systems. The office shop building <br />will have a septic tank and-leach field located southwest of the building. <br /> <br />37 Revised 1/99 <br />
