for a period of less than six months will utilize temporary culverts, where required, designed to safely
pass the 1-year, 6-hour precipitation event. Light-use roads planned to be used for a period of more
• than six months will utilize culverts designed [o safely pass the 10-year, 24-hour precipitation event
Isee Table 13-5, Culvert Statistical. Attachment 13-9 provides calculations for generic culvert sizes for
proposed light use roads. Attachment 13-7 contains calculations for existing light use road culverts.
Ditches and drainage control will be established during construction and maintenance of the roads to
minimize erosion and to assist traffic passage.
Design and Construction Light-use roads will be field engineered to follow the existing topography as
much .as practicable. Topsoil will be removed and stockpiled in accordance with the topsoil salvage
plan. The horizontal and vertical alignment will be dictated by the topography and the need to avoid
obstructions. Light-use road surfacing material will be adequate for the use of the road. Acid or toxic-
forming substances will not be used in the road surfacing. light-use roads will be maintained to
minimize erosion and to allow passage of traffic.
. Reclamation. SCC will reclaim alight-use road. when it is no longer needed in accordance with the
reclamation plan. The road will be closed to vehicu{ar traffic, The natural drainage patterns will be
restored. All culverts will be removed. Roadbeds will be ripped, plowed or scarified. Cut and fill
slopes will .be rounded or reshaped anti blended into the surrounding topography. Gross drains, dikes or
wa[ei bars maybe constructed~to control erosioh as required. Road surfaces from which topsoil has
been removed will ba covered with topsoil artd revegetated in accordance with the reclamation Dlan.
• ~~ ..
.~ Support Facilities
Buildings Proposed ~huildings consist of a bathhouse trailer 11~4'w. x 38'I x B'h1, and a shop building
140'w x 100'Ix 20'hl.
These buildings were placed do the minesite in 1990.
