~.._ <br />• observable surface water losses attributable to the Pot. Gunnison P4ine <br />and as follow up to a borehole to stop those losses, not readily <br />observable but definable by monitoring. In a situation where the <br />borehole and pwnp are in place and installation of the culvert stops <br />water inflow; pumping will cease. As conditions dictate, the casing <br />will be pulled from the hole and stored for reuse and the borehole <br />sealed using appropriate well sealing techniques. <br />It is anticipated that 500 feet of 36" corrugated metal pipe will be <br />adequate to mitigate any imaginable loss of surface water from the <br />streams to the mine. This supply of pipe will~be maintained on the <br />site with the necessary collars and seals. <br />Overburden analyses and drilling experience across the lease block <br />indicate several strata of clay materials that swell upon wetting. As <br />a result, should a loss of surface water occur it is not expected that <br />total stream flow will be diverted. Should an inflow occur during <br />spring runoff sufficient water will reach Minnesota (P•tonument) <br />Reservoir to fill it, particularly in light of average water availabi- <br />lity and Atlantic Richfield's rapid response to inflow events. <br />. Because of this no use of Atlantic Richfield's water rights for <br />augmentation are expected during spring runoff. Another point of note <br />is that during normal spring runoff water passes both reservoirs, <br />Turner and tinnesota Ditch lieadgates and reaches the North Fork. <br />During any years of obviously low spring runoff Atlantic Richfield's <br />rapid response to inflow events and minimal augmentation using <br />available water rights will make all parties whole. <br />During low flow/irrigation periods only minimal amounts of water are <br />available to 1•tinnesota Creek from Dry Fork (above the reservoir) Horse <br />Creek and South Prang drainage. All or nearly all flows from Dry Fork <br />to the do~.+nstream ditches result from reservoir release. Should the <br />unlikely set of circumstances develop where significant amounts of <br />tivater are being delivered to tinnesota Creek (other than reservoir <br />releases) during the irrigation season and they are diverted into the <br />mine, Atlantic Richfield's available water rights will be used to <br /> <br />(ZI) <br />
