• ~, NPDES PERMIT <br />An active NPDES Permit is in place for the minesite. The only discharge <br />point is [he sediment pond outlet. <br />~. MINE OPERATION WATER SYSTEMS <br />A closed circuit system will be employed in the coal preparation plant with <br />sumps to collect the entire amount of water in the system in case of a break. <br />Exhibit H shows a schematic of the system layout including the water sumps, <br />clarifier and belt press used for recirculating. <br />Clean water will enter the preparation plant through a buried 4 inch water <br />line from the City of Trinidad. The water will enter a 15,000 gallon storage <br />tank from which a 4 inch and 6 inch pump will supply all necessary parts of the <br />plant with clean water. Water will be used in almost every item of the plant, <br />• as shown in Exhibit H. <br />In the case of a water break, all spillage and washup water would be collected <br />in the excess clarifier water ponds and the bottom floor sumo, which are located <br />within the olant. This water would then be pumped to the clarifier and reused <br />in the system. The excess clarifier ponds have a capacity of 56,000 gallons, <br />which is alone more than the entire makeup of the plant. The entire amount of <br />makeup water in the plant is only 45,000 gallons. The maximum possible spillage <br />is 20,000 gallons. <br />All other surface water systems to be employed by the mine, such as ditches <br />diversions, culverts and sediment pond are presented in 2.05.3(4) Ponds, Impoundments <br />and Diversions. <br /> <br /> <br />X50 <br />D.
