Reton crock Minc , f i l e number C-9JJ-82. <br />Alluvium does e>:ist in the vicinity of the river but gives way to <br />silty, sandy clay and weathered shale in the permit area, as <br />shown by the boring data included in x.44.7 (1) Ground Water <br />Information. <br />The Pierre Shale formation, which is the immediate bedrock, is <br />appro:;imately 1800 feet thici; in the permit area and is only <br />~4-~5 feet below the surface. The upper beds of the formation <br />are 100-<00 feet thici! and consist of buff to medium gray very <br />fine - to fine grained, thin-bedded, silty and shalt' sandstone <br />beds alternating with grey to nearly black thin-bedded silty and <br />sandy shale beds. <br />,. <br /> <br />Rbvised 5/93 <br />630 <br />
