A soil depth map, Figure 4.7-1, delineates the available depth of topsoil (inches) for each <br />map unit. The soil depth suitable for stripping and reclamation use has been determined <br />through evaluation of topsoil material by horizon as presented in Soils Assessment, Munger <br />Canyon Permit (WRDC 1980a). <br />I• <br />3.2.2 Volumes of Topsoil Available for Reclamation <br />The volume of topsoil available for reclamation is in the topsoil stockpile located below <br />the proposed waste rock disposal area. (Figure 2.2-1). This topsoil pile contains about 1200 <br />cubic yards which is sufficient to cover approximately 1.5 acres 6-inches deep. This topsoil will <br />be trucked to the mine site where it will be spread approximately 6-inches thick. There are <br />approximately 1,400 cubic yards of topsoil type material stored at the mine site. This is the <br />amount remaining after some of the material was used to cover the coal hauled from the Loma <br />Loadout. These topsoil volume figures are obtained from recent (2001) digital contours. The <br />topdressing material used to cover the coal from the Loma Loadout during the 'interim <br />reclamation' is quality material that to the extent possible will be scalped off and set aside with <br />the stockpiled material for use as final reclamation topdressing. <br />The topsoil to be salvaged in the sediment pond and waste rock disposal areas are <br />explained in section 2.2.5. This topsoil will be utilized for the reclamation of the waste rock <br />disposal area. <br />3.2.3 Topsoil Storage <br />Two topsoil storage areas are located in the vicinity of the waste rock disposal area <br />(Figure 2.2-1). Vegetation will be stripped from the storage areas prior to stockpiling. The <br />design and management of topsoil stockpiles is addressed above. <br />During storage, the topsoil stockpile will be stabilized with a perennial vegetational cover <br />resulting from drill seeding of 5 Ibs/acre Western Wheatgrass-Arriba, 5 Ibs/acre Streambank <br />Wheatgrass-Sodar, and 5 Ibs/acre Thickspike Wheatgrass-Critana. Weed cover will be <br />controlled via the most appropriate technique. Control of weeds in the topsoil will decrease <br />potential problems of weeds competing with species of revegetation mix after the topsoil is re- <br />spread. <br />TR-22 <br />3-5 <br />03/07 <br />
