Proposed Duckworth Pit Mining Plan <br />DeazMs. Wallace: <br />Lafarge West, Inc. (Lafarge) has submitted a Rule 1.4.5 Application for a new aggregate mining <br />operation at the Duckworth Pit (no DMG number). This review is provided on behalf of the Smith <br />& Emmons Ditch Company and relates to potential impacts due to mining on the Smith & Emmons <br />Ditch an irrigation conveyance currently crossing through the property. <br />Existing Conditions <br />The Smith & Emmons Ditch generally flows south to north in the azea and enters the former <br />Duckworth property approximately 240 feet east of the southwest property comer. The ditch flows <br />across the property to a point approximately 460 feet east of the northwest property comer where a <br />lateral delivers water to the east, and the main ditch continues to the west around the reclaimed <br />gravel pit lake at Lighthouse Cove subdivision. Shareholders north and east of the Duckworth <br />property continue to take deliveries from the lateral and from the main ditch. Historically one shaze <br />of Smtth & Emmons stock was used for irrigatton of the Duckworth property and was included in <br />__. _. .. <br />the sale to Mineral Reserves, Inc., a Lafage subsidiary. <br />Review ofPronosed Mining Plan <br />There is insufficient information presented in the mine permit application materials to adequately <br />review and assess Lafarge's proposal to relocate the Smith & Emmons Ditch.
