Salinity Parameters ' <br />i <br />In order to obtain an indication of the quantity of Salinity, measured as total dissolved solids (TDS), being <br />discharged from the site the permittee shya~ll~~monitor the wast~eywatger~effluent at the following frequencies: <br />itOntfall: ~' ~ 1" '`'"~:, 3"'~'.s :,~' ~ ~"+'+wltlCIICy. 'l~G.~LrtK.:?+t~ l.~'k5'8111ple'~'per~':cy~X'i <br />001, 005 Quarterly Grab <br />Self-monitoring samples taken in compliance with the monitoring requirements specified above shall be taken at <br />those locations listed in Part I.B.1. <br />3. One-Time Analysis-Outfall 001 ~ <br />In order to determine the specific quality of water discharged from outfall 001, the petmittee is required to perform <br />a one time analysis for the following pazametets. The sample type for this analysis is grab. The monitoring and <br />analysis shall be performed at the fast instance of dischazge after this permit becomes effective. Following analysis, <br />the data shall be submitted to the Division within forty five days of the sampling date. <br />Parameters (all in me/Q): Potengally Dissolved Copper, Potentially Dissolved Lead, Total Mercury, <br />Potentially Dissolved Nickel, Potentially Dissolved Selenium, Potentially Dissolved Silver. <br />i <br />If evaluation of the data demonstrates a definite or probable violation of water quality standards, Ute~permit may be <br />amended to incorporate additional monitoring and/or limitations, as allowed under Part II.B.S of this permit. <br />Additional monitoring may also be required where the detection limit for a parameter is above the appropriate w~ <br />quality standards or the incorect metal fraction was analyzed. ~ <br />I <br />C. DEFINITIONS OF TERMS ' <br />I <br />1. "Composite" sample is a minimum of four grab samples collected at equally spaced two (2) hour intervals and <br />proportioned according to flow. ~ <br />i <br />2. "Continuous" measurement, is a measurement obtained from an automatic recording device which continually <br />measures provides measurements. <br />3. "Chronic lethality" occurs when a statistically significant difference, at the 95~ confidence level, occurs in the <br />chronic test between the mortality of the test species in 66% effluent (the chrot>ic IWC = 66%) and the control. <br />4. "Daily Maximum limitation" means the limitation for tltis parameter shall be applied as an instantatieous maximum <br />(or, for pH or DO, instantaneous minimum) value. The instantaneous value is defined as the analytical result of any <br />individual sample. DMRs shall include the maximum (and/or minimum) of all instantaneous values within the <br />calendar month. Any instantaneous value beyond the noted daily maximum limitation for the indicated parameter <br />shall be considered a violation of this permit, <br />5. "Grab" sample, is a single "dip and take" sample so as to be representative of the parameter being monitored. <br />I <br />6. "In-situ" measurement is defined as a single reading, observation or measurement taken in the fieldiat the point of <br />discharge. <br />i <br />7. "Instantaneous" measurement is a single reading, observation, or measurement performed on site using existing <br />monitoring facilities. i <br />8. "Potentially dissolved (PD) metals fraction" is defined in the Basic Standards and Me[hodolot;ies for Surface W- <br />1002-31, as that portion of a constituent measured from the filtrate of a water and suspended sediment sample th <br />was first treated with nitric acid to a pH of 2 or less and let stand for 8 to 96 hours prior to sample filtration using a <br />0.40 or 0.45-UM (micron) membrane filter. Note the "potentially dissolved" method cannot be used where nitric <br />acid will interfere with dte analytical procedure used for the cotutiment measured. ~ <br />See Pari I.C. for Defmitious. <br />
