3. Anchor top of blanket at end of channel section using trench and/or staples/stakes.
4. Unroll center blanket in direction of water flow on bottom of channel. Securely fasten
blanket to soil surface with staples/stakes in accordance with manufacmrex's staple
pattern guide. If available, use colored dot pattern corresponding to the manufacturer's
recommended staple pattern- In applicable, overlap adjacent blankets and staple.
5. Anchor full-length margin of blankets at top of side slopes with a row of staples/stakes.
Backfill soil material over final 12-inches of blanket margin and compact.
3.3 Rock Riprap Channel Desiga
Rock ripxap may be used as a channel lining for the steepest channel sections. Riprap size was
determined using the SEDCAD4 xprap lined channel sub-routine, utilizing the PADER (Pennsylvania
Department of Environmental Resources, Stover, 1990) method. Given the uncertainty in determuilug
riprap Dso for steep slopes with the PADER Method, SCC adds an additional 3-inches to the
SEDCAD4 model recommended Dso size.
3.4 Channel Design Summary
The channel design is summarized in Table 4, Cbanne! PLl Derign Summary. The SEDCAD4 channel
utility outputs axe presented in Attachment C, Cbauuel Derign Retultr.
TABLE 4
CHANNEL PL-1 DESIGN SUMMARY

Dischazge
Slope Bottom
Side Slope
Velocity Flow Design
Liner
Channel (cfs) (%) Width (H:1V) (fPs) Depth Depth TYPe
(tt) @ (ft)
2-19 8.8 1.20 1.50 TRM
PL-1 7.4 20-44 3 4 6.5 0.4 0.7 6-inch Dso
45-47 6.5 0.3 0.6 9-inch Dso
Notes: Velocity value based on maximum grade for haze soil conditions.
Flow depth value calculated using minimum grade for vegetated with TRM conditions.
Desi de th assumes 0.3 feet of freeboard.
4.0 REFERENCES
Colbond Geosynthetics, Inc., Product Specificatiou Informatiou, Enka, North Carolina 28728,
www. colbond-usa.com.
Erosion Control Technical Council (ECTC), 2006.
