The Ro111ns Sandstone is the stratigraphically lowest aquifer. It ties
below all existing and proposed mine workings. Subsidence from the
existing and proposed mine workings wi11 not affect the Ro111ns Sand-
stone.
No. 3 Mine 1s developed to the 'Anderson' (upper Sunshine seam) above
ail three mayor aquifers. Subsidence from proposed mining 1n No. 3 Mine
probably will not affect any of the mayor bedrock aquifers.
No. I Mine is developed 1n the A-seam dust above the Rollins Sandstone
and below the Upper and Middle Sandstone aquifers. The No. 1 Mine work-
ings are located approximately 500 ft. below the Middle Sandstone aqul-
• fer and 800 ft. below the Upper Sandstone aquifer. Subsidence from min-
ing 1n No. 1 Mine is not expected to have any significant or lasting
effect on the overlying aquifers because of the thick interburden lnter-
val .
In addition to the three ma, or sandstone aquifers, two water-bearing in-
tervals were encountered above the Anderson seam during test dr1111ng in
the permit area. These water bearing zones were interbedded sandstones
of indeterminate thickness and latest extent. Subsidence from mining
probably w111 not significantly affect these water-bearing zones because
of the 1lmited lateral extent.
~;~

• 11
