• On areas to be revegetated, seeding will be done as recommended by the local N.R.C.S. office:
between June 15 and July 15 or between October 1 and April 30. It is estimated that all of the pit
floor and the stockpile and crusher area will be utilized for stockpiling and processing for the life
of Phase 1 (up to 52 years) before any portion would be available for seeding.
Fertilizer will be applied at the rate recommended by the local N.R. C. S. office: 20 pounds
nitrogen and 40 pounds phosphorus per acre at the initial revegetation period. Please see
Attachment E-1 for the recommendation from the local N.R.C.S. office.
(f) (i) Please see Exhibit 6.5.1 for a description of the operational and final slopes.
Final grading will result in benches with a gentle slope to direct runoff to the stormwater sump
located in the southeast corner of 1. The pit floor and stockpile/crusher area will have a final
grading that will also direct runoff to the stormwater sump located in the southeast corner of
Phase 1. All final slopes will be graded to less than 10% slope.
(ii) Seeding
Revegetation Mix
Species recommended by the local N.R.C.S. office (see Attachment E-1) as suitable for the
affected area to be planted at the broadcast rate are:
Species Pounds PLS/acre
Western wheatgrass 16
• Streambank wheatgrass 11
Blue grama 3
Sideoats grams 9
Little bluestem 7
Indian ricegrass 12
Revegetation timing
Seeding will be done as recommended by the local N.R.C.S. office: between June 15 and July 15
or between October 1 and April 30. It is estimated that all of the pit floor will be utilized for
processing and stockpiling for a year or two before any portion would be vacated for seeding.
(iii) Fertilization
Fertilizer will be applied at the rate recommended by the local N.R.C.S. office: 20 pounds
nitrogen and 40 pounds phosphorus per acre at the initial revegetation period.
(iv) Tree and shrub establishment will not be attempted on the azeas to be revegetated. The area
is grazed by livestock, and tree and shrub establishment is not considered viable.
(v) Crusher fines, topsoil, and other loose rocky material salvaged during the operation will be
stockpiled as described above and used to cover the mined pit floor. This mixture of loose
material on areas of the pit floor no longer needed for processing will be covered with available
plant growth medium stripped from successive benches prior to mining. The final depth of plant
• growth medium (including the crusher fines, topsoil, and other loose rocky material) is not
known at this time, but is anticipated to average about one foot thick over the mined out pit floor.
