The selected land use of rangeland is compatible with surrounding uses and County <br />Zoning. <br />No pond or lake will be produced as part of the Reclamation Plan. <br />(8) Neither agricultural crops nor horticultural crops aze part of the Reclamation Plan. <br />(9) No backfilling will occur as part of the Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation. <br />(10) All mined material to be disposed of within the affected area will be handled so as to <br />prevent any unauthorized release of pollutants to the. surface drainage system. The mined <br />material to be disposed of within the affected azea will consist of crusher fines which will be <br />spread on the pit floor for reclamation, and of limited amounts of blasted rock remaining on the <br />mined benches. All surface drainage during and after mining will be directed to a sump or <br />sumps located within the affected area where runoffwill percolate into the ground. <br />(11) Unauthorized releases of pollutants to groundwater from any materials mined, handled, or <br />disposed of within Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation the will be avoided. The primary <br />commodities to be mined at the Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation will be limestone and granite, <br />and no acid-forming or toxic producing materials are anticipated to be released from mined <br />materials. Fueling and servicing of equipment used at the Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation will <br />be done in a specific area where proper handling of petroleum products will be followed to avoid <br />• spills or leaks. Fuel, lubricants, and other products will be brought to the Byzantine Quarries <br />112 Operation in special trucks. Care will be taken not to spill petroleum products. Should any <br />inadvertent spill occur, contaminated materials will be removed from the site and disposed of <br />properly in an appropriate and approved facility. <br />(vi) 3.1.6 Water -General Requirements <br />(1) Larsen Colorado LLC will minimize disturbances to the hydrologic balance of the affected <br />land and the surrounding and to the quantity or quality of water in surface and groundwater <br />systems by: <br />(a} complying with applicable Colorado water laws and regulations governing injury to existing <br />water rights; <br />(b) complying with applicable federal and Colorado water quality laws and regulations, <br />including statewide water quality standards and site-specific classifications and standards <br />adopted by the Water Quality Control Commission; as stated above, no acid-forming or toxic <br />producing materials are anticipated to be mined, and no impacts to water quality are anticipated. <br />(c) conducting no dredge or fill activities; <br />(d) creating a sump or sumps on previously mined pit floors, and directing surface runoff from <br />disturbed areas to these sump(s) to retain sediment within the affected lands. These sumps will <br />remain in place until after reclamation to ensure no long term siltation occurs to surrounding <br />• areas from the affected land. <br />
