EXHiBTT E -Reclamation Plan ~i~ ~''~' Q 6 ZQQ]
(1) Larsen Colorado has used specific terms for addressing al] pertinent items. ~'"is`^~ or R,c:~,,afion,
f!;ining and S~;aiy
(2) The following are components of the Reclamation Plan for the Byzantine Quarcies 112
Operation:
(a) Reclamation will occur on al] disturbed portions of the affected land. The pit highwalls will
be reclaimed to stable slopes and benches. The pit floors will be reclaimed and revegetated to
provide rangeland for cattle grazing.
The rangeland reclamation type was chosen because the Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation is
located within the boundazies of a working cattle ranch, and the revegetated areas will be grazed
by livestock when available. Revegetation of pit highwalls and benches is not contemplated
because 1) the benches and bench faces will be left in a stable condition with minimal fines
remaining on the benches (to reduce erosion), 2}the benches will be inaccessible to cattle, and 3)
the owner does not wish to provide an attraction, such as vegetation, to livestock on the benches.
The post mining use of rangeland wil[ be supported by revegetating the pit floors upon
completion of mining using the seed mixture provided by the N.R.C.S. (see Attachment E-1)
Due to the steepness of the pre-mining topography, the limited amount of growth medium on the
pre-mining slopes, and the potential for increased moisture available to vegetation on the
• generally flat pit floor compared to the steep pre-mining topography; revegetating the pit floor is
anticipated to provide range productivity similar to the pre-mining productivity.
(b) The post-mining land use of rangeland is comparable with all surrounding land uses. The
area is zoned AF (agricultural/forestry) by Fremont County, and the surrounding lands are
currently used for livestock grazing.
(c) The Reclamation Plan will be implemented to meet the following applicable requirement of
Section 3.1 as follows:
(i) 3.1.1-Establishing Post-Mining Use
The Byzantine Quarcies 112 Operation is located within the boundaries of a working cattle
ranch, and the revegetated areas will be grazed by livestock when available.
(ii) 3.1.2 Reclaiming Substituted land
Reclamation will be carried out on all affected lands. No reclamation of substituted lands will be
attempted.
(iii) 3.1.3 Time Limit and Phased Reclamation
Phase 1 and the stockpile rusher area (shown on the maps in Exhibit C) are the only portions of
the Byzantine Quarries 112 Operation for which a permit is being sought in this application.
Once reclamation is initiated, reclamation will be completed within five (5) years.
(iv) 3.1.4 Public Use
The affected lands will not be subject to public use.
