7. The existing water features on the Existing Conditions Map, 2 of 7 are difficult to discern. In
conformance with Rule 6.4.7(2)(a), please provide a sepazate "Water Features Map" that clearly
shows the locations of all surface water and groundwater features in the affected land and
surrounding azea that may potentially be affected by the proposed mining operation. Such map
should include the location of all springs, wetlands, stock ponds, irrigation canals, lateral
irrigation ditches, registered domestic wells, and registered irrigation wells. Please note that the
potential exists for adverse impacts to registered groundwater users in excess of 600 feet from
the proposed excavation(s). Also, registered wells within the affected land and surrounding azea
should be identified as to ownership, well type and size, well pumping capacity, well depth, and
volume of water assured by the owner's water right. Please respond.
8. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(2)(b), please clarify the aquifer characteristics of the
Broadway alluvium to be affected by the proposed mining and reclamation operation.
Specifically, describe the direction of groundwater movement in this shallow alluvial aquifer in
and surrounding the area to be excavated; the saturated thickness, hydraulic conductivity,
transmissivity, effective radius, and storage coefficient of the aquifer in the area of excavation;
whether the aquifer is confined or unconfined; any interaction between surface and groundwater
throughout the yeaz; the quality of water produced by registered wells in the affected land and
surrounding area; the natural elevation of groundwater in the affected land and surrounding
areas; and the range of depth for groundwater in the affected land and suaounding area
throughout the yeaz; and the expected depth of groundwater in the affected land and surrounding
area during the peak of irrigation season or other such time when the demand for groundwater
resources by a variety of domestic water users and/or irrigation water users in the surrounding
area is at a maximum. Please respond.
9. In conformance with Rule 6.4.7(2)(b), please define the following features: the horizontal
distance to surface water features and to groundwater users in the surrounding azea; any sources
of existing groundwater recharge in the affected land or surrounding azea; the kind of drawdown
that neazby domestic and/or irrigation water users normally have from their use; the groundwater
levels in the various wells or the aquifer after use by neazby domestic and/or irrigation water
users during a time of maximum demand on the aquifer (presumably during the peak of
irrigation season). PYease iespond.-
10. In order to better understand the regional surface and groundwater system in the area of the
proposed operation, and in conformance with Rule 6.4.7(2)(b), please provide a typical cross
section diagram that includes the following features: South Platte River, groundwater table
during mining, groundwater table after mining, estimated lake water surface, existing ground,
limits of mineable resource, fulton ditch lateral, the closest wetland, the closest domestic
groundwater user, and the closest irrigation water user. Please respond.
11. h1 conformance with Rule 6.4.4 and Rule 3.1.6(1), please describe the maximum pumping
rate necessary to completely de-water all three (3) cells from top to bottom and maintain 284
acres of dry pit surface; and the length of pumping period(s) necessary to completely de-water
284 acres of pit surface; the expected drawdown rate of the groundwater surface at the 3 pits; and
the natural elevation of groundwater at the pit prior to de-watering. Also, if the operator
anticipates using multiple pumps during de-watering and/or pumping from several of more cells
