Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />RE: Hydrology Review, Lupton Lakes Resource, SE TKO Joint Venture, File M-2004-078 <br />Class: Permit <br />This memo contains adequacy review comments from the Division's Hydrology Review of the <br />Lupton Lakes Resource Regular 112 Application, File No. M-2004-078. <br />6.4.3 EXHIBIT C -Pre-Minine &Minine Plan Maas <br />6.4.4 EXHIBIT D -Minine Plan <br />1. On page 4 of the application form the applicant specifies use or storage of the following items <br />within the permit azea: 55 gallon drums of antifreeze, hydraulic oil, engine oil, and other <br />lubricants; a 10,000 gallon tank of diesel fuel; and a 1,000 gallon tank of gasoline. In <br />conformance with Rule 3.1.6(1), please provide astorage/containment plan which specifies <br />primary and secondary containment measures to be employed to assure that disturbances to <br />surface water and groundwater in the affected land and surrounding azea will be minimized. The <br />storage/containment plan will need to include a description of the containment measures to be <br />employed, a commitment to install such measures prior to storage of chemicals on site, a map <br />showing the location of the storage azea (must be outside the 100-year floodplain of the South <br />Platte River), and a representative cross section of the secondary containment system(s) to be <br />installed. <br />2. The applicant specifies on page 12 that the mining operation will include pit de-watering and <br />offsite discharge of recovered groundwater in accordance with a Colorado Dischazge Permit <br />System/NPDES regulations. It is the Division's understanding that recovered groundwater from <br />pit de-watering operations will be discharged offsite and into the South Platte River. Please <br />clarify where the point(s) of offsite discharge will occur, the method(s) used to safely dischazge <br />the recovered groundwater, and what structure(s) the recovered groundwater will be dischazged <br />Office of Office of Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey <br />
