•
not exceed in grade either the approximate premining slope, or any lesser
slope approved by the regulatory authority based on consideration of soil,
climate, or other characteristics of the surrounding area. All highwalls
will be eliminated. Specific areas are addressed below.
Crystal Meadows Disturbance Area
The Crystal Meadows affected area has been seeded with species and
rates approved by CMLRB (Exhibit 2.05.4-D). The seeded area was mulched
with straw at a rate of 1 ton per acre.
A continuous straw bale dike has been constructed along Anthracite
•
Creek at the lower end of the affected, seeded area. The straw dike will
serve as a sediment control feature. The staked straw dike should provide
sufficient sediment control for the nearly level, mulched affected area.
East Portal Air Intake Shaft Disturbance Area
The area disturbed by the construction of the shaft, gravel pad, sub-
soil stockpile and access road will be graded and contoured by dozer to an
approximation of the original slope of 40 percent (Exhibit 2.05.4-E).
Grading will follow the sealing of the air intake shaft, the removal of
structures and gravel pad, backfilling of access road cut, and redistribu-
tion of subsoil. Water erosion control features such as water bars will be
incorporated into the recontoured slope after the distribution of topsoil
material.
East Portal Disturbance Area
After the structures at the East Portal have been removed and the
[]
necessary backfilling and compaction completed, most of the area above
2.05-48
