Revision
February 1982
~e_ proposed conveyor to connect the West Portal with the stockpile
will limit the need of trucking coal from the projected longwall. Only coal
being transported to the work plant will be trucked, The conveyor is pro-
posed to be constructed around April 1982. Construction will take
approximately 3 months. The conveyor will be 36" wide and utilize the rigid
frame-concept. The structure will be supported at 10-foot intervals on pipes
which will be driven into the ground. These pipes will constitute the
foundation on which the conveyor is constructed. The conveyor will be
covered with a removable cover as a dust suppression device as are the other
conveyors at the Hawk's Nest Mine. The return side of the conveyor will be
turned over. This keeps material which adheres to the carrying surface of
the belt from dropping to the ground in piles at each idler. The coal
carrying surface is up and the material secure. (Note: This is probably the
• greatest particulate pollution generating source on most conveyors).
The proposed conveyor will be constructed in two segments (the first
segment is described above). The second segment will be a stacking tube,
much like the stacking tube at the West Portal loadout. The stacking tube
is designed to allow coal to discharge from a conveyor belt with a minimal
amount of dust generation.
ii. GEOTECHNICAL ANALYSES
This section is not applicable to the proposed operation plan.
iii. RELOCATION
This is not applicable because drainageways will not be relocated.
•
2.05-36~
