M
EX}IIBI'P D
Open Pit'hllning
Alining plan
The mtni.n~r, ac tivity first starts w'~ the removal of
top soil and the oyes burden, which are two types of soils.
~-_. ~ -
Foth can support rile native vegetation. 'f his can be seen
on the soils charts. The top soil is piled up 6n the wort
end of the mine by sr.rapers or by our. D-£3 cat .for storage.
The removal of the soil x111 usually take place three times
a year. based on the demand of gravel and how good the g.ra-
vPl is in that area. The depth of the over burden will vary
from 0-10 ~ eet and the depth of gravel from 0-20 feet. ~~
The total area affected by stripping and our minim?
process usually runs between 1 and 2 acres per year.
After the over burden is scraped off, the gravel is
removed xith a loader a.nd liaulerl to our crushing and wash-
ing plant. We do periodically have portable crushing and,
screening plants make different products for. us. This is,
done by removing the gravel xith a loader, processing it
through the plant and having 'the various products stock
piled to the mSning ar.ea..
Some of these products stay stock piled in the area
for 2 to 4 years since they are waste products, but still
sellable items. This accounts for sloxer Reclamation in
~~~n
the areas. !
