AREA E
• Area E is the portion of the conveyor corridor which extends from
the east yard about 800 feet to the east. This area encompasses 0.2
acres. There is no reason to suspect that this area contains acid,
toxic, or alkalinity forming materials. The drainage from the
conveyor corridor is controlled by the construction of a berm on each
side of the conveyor. Drainage from this small area will run down
grade to the east. At about station 13+00 alternate sediment control
measures will be implemented so the run-off will meet applicable
settleable solids standards. The run-off from this area will be
coursed through straw bale filters to control sediment.
The location where this water will be coursed through straw bale
filters is north of the railroad tracks and north of the state
highway. It is unlikely that any of this water will flow directly
into any state water so therefore it is not considered a point source
discharge.
AREA C
Area C is the portion of the conveyor corridor which extends from
the new portal area about 1300 feet to the west. This area
encompasses 0.6 acres. There is no reason to suspect that this area
contains acid, toxic, or alkalinity forming materials. The drainage
from the conveyor corridor is controlled by the construction of a berm
on each side of the conveyor. Drainage from this small area will run
down grade to the east to the new portal area. Where the drainage
reaches the new portal area alternate sediment control measures will
be implemented so the run-off will meet applicable settleable solids
standards. The run-off will be coursed through straw bale filters to
control sediment.
AREA A
Area A is the new portal area. This area encompasses 0.6 acres.
There is no reason to suspect that this area contains acid, toxic, or
alkalinity forming materials. The drainage from this area is
collected in collection ditch CD-A. At the outlet end of ditch CD-A
alternate sediment control measures will be implemented so the run-off
will meet applicable settleable solids standards. The run-off will
be coursed through straw bale filters to control sediment.
Areas A, C and E encompass a total of 1.4 acres. Alternate
sediment control for areas A b C will be provided by a sediment trap
drop inlet. Alternate sediment control for Area E will be provided
by a typical sediment trap. Both sediment control structures are
shown on Drawing 5-004.
phc
• 8-87
