they will be grouted from the bottom to the top to stabilize them in the hole. hr order to hang the power cable in the
hole a steel structure will be constructed over two or three of the cased holes. (The additional holes~borings are
discussed in the fo]]owring paragraph.) These structures are metal beams supported on metals legs, which are bolted
into a concrete footer. The beams will be either 14' (one each) or 10' (up to three} feet in length, and the Legs will be
approximately G.S or 8' in height. The footers are approximately 4' x 4' x 4'. The 14' beam structures will be
placed over the 24" borehole. Also, a 7' x 10' by .3' pad will be poured around the 24' borehole. The 16" beam
structures will be placed over the 6" diameter borings. A 7' x 6' x .3' pad will be poured around these borings,
As part of the above, TCC will advance up to three additional G inch cased borings at the existing NMD Power
Borehole. This is required due to problems encountered in grouting the casing as approved in TR 00-37. These
borings will be located on the same pad as the NMD Power Borehole, as they will terminate in the same entry
underground as the NMD Power Borehole. During the boring of the holes the existing mud pit will be utilized,
although it will require that it be dug out and reestablished at the site. It is in the same location as it was originally
located. When the borings are complete the pit will 6e backfilled and the pad graded as per the above.
D4INE WATER RECYCLING SXSTENI -FISH CREEK BOREHOLE (MR 02-179)
TCC is planning on constructing a mine water recycling Line from the Fish Creek Borehole ponds that will tie into
the escape shaft and 10 Right underground waterline. The location of the line and associated facilities is sitor~m on
Map 24, Surface Facilities. The water line will further improve TCC's mine water recycling program and minimize
the volume of water that has to be imported from outside the mine for dust control,
The installation of the recycling system will require the following activities: 1) installation of pumping system at
Fish Creek Borehole facility, 2) electrical and control system modification, 3) installation of waterline from western
settling cell to escape shafr and 10 Right waterline, 4) tying of water line from pond to escape shaft and 10 Right
waterline, and 5) installation of manholes along waterline for installing "T's" for stock tank feeds,
The installation of the pumping system will require construction of a concrete pad to house the pump and control
building, The pad wilt be sloped towards the cell, or a drain pipe may be installed, so that water that gets onto the
pad will drain back into the cell. A suction line from the pump will be placed in the western settling cell for
pumping of the water up to the escape shaft or 10 Right waterline. The existing water treatment s}~stem will
continue to function in order to provide acceptable quality water for use in the underground mine's dts[ su;;,~ression
system. The dischazge line from the pump will be placed over the cell embankment and then buried and tied into the
waterline. The section of the discharge or suction line that is exposed to the air may be insulated to prevent 1Teezing.
The building will be constructed on top the concrete slab to house the pump and controls for the pumping system.
The concrete slab (approximately 12' x 20' x 2') will be placed on top of the existing berm. A limited quantity of
fill will be needed for the slab constnuction, The fill will be placed on the west side of the existing cell embanlanent.
The fill material will be obtained fmm within the boundary of the disturbed site or brought in from the portal area.
Once the new building is constructed the building housing the acid feed system will be de-energized and, if not
required for additional storage, removed from the location. The power feed from the existing substation will be
extended over to the pump station. The extension of the powerline will require the installation of two additional
power pales. All of these construction activities will be done in a previously disturbed area.
The waterline will be installed along the existing mad corridor, except for that segment which traverses the
reclaimed and bond released surface mine area. In areas where the waterline will be installed in the road corridor the
trench will be excavated either down the center of the road or along the shoulder. Field conditions will dictate the
location of the trench excavation.
The segment of the line which traverses the former surface mine area will require that the available topsoil be
salvaged and then replaced back on top of the trench excavation. For this segment the topsoil will be salvaged and
PR 03-OG 2.D5-65.3 04/29/04
Z•d
~,~„ _.;: _ : ~._ eLE = T T bt7 6Z add
