The site was evaluated for the three
jurisdictional wetland criteria; hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and a hydrologic
regime indicative of inundation or saturation. Wetlands and waters of the United States
were identified and mapped within the site. Waters of the United States (other than
wetlands) were identified within the Brantner Ditch and the Brighton Ditch, both
irrigation supply canals. Wetlands, concluded to be non-jurisdictional, were located
within two sideslope seeps and one ephemeral depression pond. These features are
further described below.
The Tucson fill area consists of one parcel comprising approximately 34 acres contained
within the W'/z SW'/e of Section 1, Township 1 South, Range 67 West of the Sixth Prime
Meridian, Adams County, Colorado. The fill area parcel is situated north of Colorado
State Highway 7, west of the main Tucson project site and south and east of property
fencelines. Generally, the site is bisected by the Brantner Ditch and west of the Brighton
Ditch on the primary and secondary terraces above the South Platte River. Currently, the
site is used for grazing. Adjacent land uses include residential, agriculture, and existing
sand and gravel extraction operations.
